She is focused, grounded and thoughtful, continually seeking the essence. She dove into playback to expand her ability to follow impulse and be spontaneous. She loves playback's ability to turn our everyday, sometimes traumatic, sometimes joyful, experiences into magical works of art.
He's creative, expansive, a "sunny side of the street" kind of guy. He loves to turn a story into a big physical or musical expression with "story-teller" timing. Playback is the perfect vehicle for being in the moment and creating from that place.
A Playback pioneer, Susan introduced Playback to Ottawa in 1999. In January 2013 she and four of her Playback buddies will be introducing it to a 55 plus community in Naples Florida. Susan's enthusiasm for Playback began when she first witnessed it in Christchurch New Zealand in the 1980's. She still marvels at its ability to bring authenticity and soulfulness to all kinds of communities.
Funny, handsome and obviously humble (yes, he wrote this himself!), John brings his imagination, spontaneity and irrepressible energy to every performance. He is honoured to play back stories from his community and encourages all of us to reclaim storytelling and performance as an integral part of what it means to be human.
Jane Keeler, Conductor
She loves being at the centre of things, gathering powerful and poignant stories, provoking and surprising people! For her, conducting is like throwing sparks into kindling, and warming herself at the fire. She knows in her bones that Playback is our inheritance from the voices of every campfire, kitchen table, or hearth in the world.
